'Beetlejuice 2' Gets Official Title
The sequel to Beetlejuice has been given its name, and oddly enough, it repeats its name. Yes, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice 2024 A.D. is the name of this sequel. The reveal came with the release of the new poster for the film, which Warner Bros. posted to social media.
The first Beetlejuice was released in 1988, directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton. The two would continue to collaborate on various films, including Batman Returns, with this sequel to Beetlejuice being their most recent. Keaton will reunite with original cast members Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara for this sequel, with Wednesday star Jenna Ortega being one of the new cast.

Other stars featuring in the Beetlejuice sequel include Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, and Justin Theroux. The film will be released on September 6, a weekend that seems to attract plenty of horror films. The post-Labor Day weekend has become a popular one to launch horror films after the success of the It and Nun franchises saw success with it.
However, there could very well have been a delay from that weekend, with the film having filmed 99% of its scenes before the SAG-AFTRA strike shut the production down. But, once the strike was resolved, Burton moved quickly to get those final scenes shot.
