Since the release of The Avengers in 2012, Marvel has become one of the film industry's staples and one of the most well-known franchises in the world! Jump to 2019, and the culmination of ten years of connected storytelling came to fruition with Avengers: EndgameOpening to box office records and becoming the #2 grossing movie all-time behind Avatar! Then came the announcements for Phase 4, which made our direction very clear: the Multiverse! However, no word on another Avengers film was released, leaving many to wonder if there will be another 'Avengers film.

Thankfully, as of this past weekend, Marvel Studios dropped a bombshell of information at San Diego Comic-Con, including everything we need to know for the next three years and two Phases. Although much of what's to come is info that we were already privy to, including most of Phase 5, although two projects that took many by surprise.

The fact that we got any information about Phase 6 seemed highly unlikely, but with finally getting a confirmed release date for the Fantastic Four, it was also confirmed that not one but two Avengers movies. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released in 2025 and are set to complete Phase 6 and the newly titled Multiverse saga. Although no story details were given about either film, one tidbit was released this week about who would be helming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Destin Daniel Cretton, most notably known as the director of one of the top 10 films in the worldwide box office: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, seems like a no-brainer to take on Marvel's next major event. Praised for his action directing style, pushing the MCU further culturally, and maintaining that Marvel trademark comedy and emotion, Cretton brought one of the best-reviewed and exciting Marvel films to date! This was proven by the numbers when Shang-Chi placed 9th on the box office charts with $432,243,292 worldwide! This result followed a global pandemic. One can only imagine the numbers it would have gotten under different circumstances. Regardless, it seems that Disney and Marvel have enough faith in Cretton to take on what is sure to be Marvel's biggest film since Endgame!

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is set to be released May 2nd, 2025, and it seems to be the first of a 2 part finale to end Phase 6 of the MCU! Stay tuned for the latest in Marvel Culture with Culture Slate!
