'Andor' Season Two Stars Talk Season Structure And How It Changes Their Characters
Entertainment Weekly sat down recently on the Dagobah Dispatch podcast with Andor stars Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Adria Arjona to discuss the season one finale of Andor and the impact of the finale’s events on Dedra Meero, Syril Karn, and Bix Caleen. The upcoming season will be set one year after where we left these characters in season one. Additionally, season two will end in line with the beginning of Rogue One. To get these characters to this point, fans can expect to see a time jump every few episodes.
Arjona describes the evolution of Bix, Syril, and Dedra as an opportunity to grow with their characters. Given the period, fans will see that growth as variant versions of the characters. She said, “I get to grow with Bix. And it continues to happen throughout the entire season. So you get to meet, like, three different versions of Bix." Bix, of course, endured and survived extreme torture, compliments of Dedra. Arjona addresses the healing path that this character is bound to go through. "There's an anger that I hope builds in Bix. Whether it's revenge or whether it's a closeness with Cassian because he saved her — of course she has to lean in. She's always been a part of it, and I think by episode nine of season one, it was obvious someone must do something.”

Soller spends time discussing his character, Syril, and agrees in the interview with Arjona about there being three versions as they grow and respond to the world around them. Soller comments in the interview about Syril’s journey that his goal does not appear to change as he has his eye on promotion through the ranks at the Bureau of Standards. Naturally, he was asked about the romantic connection with Dedra as well. Fans watched and loved every awkward moment as Syril appeared to have a crush on Dedra, further complicating their situation. Of course, he saved her during the riot on Ferrix. Gough discusses the character being at her weakest at that moment while also noting that “she's still on her journey of wanting the world to be far more ordered than it is." Only time will tell if and how a romance will bloom between these two. Undoubtedly, we will all drink it up like ice-cold blue milk.
Season two of Andor is expected to drop on Disney+ in August 2024.
