Amazon Prime has released the trailer for the fifth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, set to release on April 14, 2023.

According to the official logline, Midge Maisel struggles to find the path that will lead her to success in her standup comedy career as she says: “It’s two steps forward, three steps back, and I’m tired of it.”

Showrunners Daniel Palladino and Amy Sherman-Palladino have spoken with The Hollywood Reporter about the struggle of planning the ending of Maisel’s adventure: “We always had a general ending in mind for the series, but it was somewhere at four or five or six, or something like that. And it just seemed to fit in season five,” said Sherman-Palladino.

She also spoke of the journey that actors go through with their characters and how important it is to make it worth the efforts: “We’ve invested so much time and energy and resources in these people and their journeys, the bar is just making sure that we put this cast through what we put them through and made them work as hard as they did, and they get to come out of this feeling like they’ve made a good journey, and that their characters have traveled and ended someplace of worth.”

The efforts poured into this project by all the cast and crew certainly paid off. Indeed, throughout its course, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won 20 Emmys, one of which was for best comedy series, and acting nods for Rachel Brosnahan, Tony Shalhoub, and Alex Borstein.

The fifth season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is set to premiere on April 14 with a three-episode release.
