5 Things From ‘Star Wars’ Legends That Could Be Canon

There is always a bit of truth in legends as Ahsoka Tano once said. With this in mind, it is interesting to see what aspects from Legends could still easily be part of the current Star Wars canon being created. What hidden aspects or characters could still be out there in the galaxy far, far away, just waiting to be discovered within Legends? Here are five things from Legends that could still be a part of Star Wars canon.

The Yuuzhan Vong

Back in the days, the Yuuzhan Vong were one of the main threats of the nineteen-book New Jedi Order series. They were an alien empire from the Unknown Regions that invaded the known Star Wars galaxy. Why have they not made a return to canon yet? After all, the Yuuzhan Vong were set to appear as a cameo in the 2008 Clone Wars cartoon. The universe is vast, and various parts of the galaxy are still unexplored. It is possible that some unknown forces lay hidden beyond the known regions. Grand Admiral Thrawn, who also hailed from the Unknown Regions, mentioned many of these mysterious groups. It is quite possible that somewhere out there the Yuuzhong Vong lie in wait, preparing to attack the galaxy again. Perhaps they will appear to fight the New Jedi Order led by Grand Master Rey Skywalker.

Darth Plagueis The Muun

Not much is known in the current canon about the Darth Plagueis the Wise. What we do know is that he was Darth Sidious’s master, and he used midi-chlorians to create life and cheat death. His story is more developed in Legends. He was a Muun known as Hugo Damask, and he was actually still around during the time of The Phantom Menace. What we know so far about Palpatine’s master in the current canon is still vague enough that his backstory from Legends could easily be incorporated into canon in the future.

The Outbound Flight

In the time before the Clone Wars, the Republic had come up with initiatives to explore the Unknown Regions. This project was known as the Outbound Flight, where Jedi and Republic colonists were sent into the depths of the Unknown Regions via a large space station ship. The story of the Outbound Flight is connected to one Grand Admiral Thrawn, who encountered the ship when he was just a young commander in the Chiss forces. While Timothy Zahn’s recent canon books concerning Grand Admiral Thrawn have not outright discussed the Outbound Flight, there is a high likelihood of the project appearing in canon, especially if we will be seeing more of Grand Admiral Thrawn in future canon works.

Prince Xizor

Black Sun is another major criminal organization in the Star Wars universe other than the Hutts, and the Pyke Syndicate. While Black Sun is now canon, its famous leader still remains in Legends. The Falleen Prince Xizor was a rival to Lord Vader, and one of the most powerful people in the galaxy. The Falleen as an alien species has appeared several times in the Clone Wars series, so it goes without saying that perhaps the charismatic Prirnce Xizor still exists in this universe. We just have not encountered him yet.

Ancient Sith Lords Of Old

Revan, Exar Kun, Marka Ragnos are the names of ancient Sith who once spread fear and terror throughout the galaxy. Some have been mentioned in canon material while others still remain in Legends. It goes without saying that with the ancient past and the Old Republic era being largely unexplored in current canon, these ancient figures could still appear in the new canon one day.

There is always a bit of truth in legends. Let’s see which Legends will come true.
