New Details Revealed From ‘Hogwarts Legacy’
Given the huge international popularity of the Harry Potter franchise, it is surprising how little love was given to the video game side of things, at least when it comes to modern consoles. In the early days, there were Harry Potter games released across major platforms like Playstation, Playstation 2, Xbox, and GameCube along with Windows and macOS. This was later extended to include games on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. The last new original game to be released was Book of Potions nearly ten years ago back in 2013 and that was only on the Playstation 3 as an augmented reality game. There were also the massively popular LEGO Harry Potter games which did at least get next-generation console updates covering Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, showing that there was clearly still life in the franchise. Here we are in 2022, and we are eagerly anticipating the release of Hogwart's Legacy, which will drop later in the year on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch
Two years after the Hogwart's Legacy game was originally announced, developer Avalanche Games has now released an exciting State of Play gameplay reveal. This video finally gives us our first look into how the final product of Hogwart's Legacy will look along with some detailed information on its story. Hogwart’s Legacy promises to give players the opportunity to be immersed in an open-world action RPG set in the exciting world first introduced in the Harry Potter books.

The game is set in Hogwarts School in the 1800s. The decision to set things back in the past is so that characters can progress without any crossover with well known characters from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts books. Avalanche Software has stressed that the gameplay will encompass everything that fans of the Harry Potter franchise have come to know and love and it will all be very familiar.
Your character will be a fifth-year student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Harry Potter fans will be pleased to engage in a wizard duel with other students, brew potions in the classroom, and fly on a broomstick. All of this adds another cool element to the chance of being able to fully explore and roam Hogwarts.
The gameplay video highlighted some of the mechanics in the game as well, covering the sort of things that would be expected in a game such as this. There will be a Talent system that will help the player to upgrade certain skills as they progress through and also to enhance abilities that they have learned in the Room of Requirement. Fans will love being able to learn magic spells that they are already familiar with from the books and movies and the rest of the wizarding world. The visuals certainly look impressive. If the actual handling of the characters is as good as everything looks, then Harry Potter fans will be in for a massive treat.
Hogwart's Legacy could be the game that Harry Potter fans have been waiting a long time. Its open-world concept and the ability to just openly explore Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry might make this game worth the money on its own, just like the ability to web swing through New York in the Spider-Man games. The actual main story will just be the icing on the cake.
