Deadline reports a new spinoff film, Sam and Victor’s Day Off, was announced by Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Hayden Schlossberg, and Jon Hurwitz, based on the valet attendants from John Hughes’ masterpiece Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The Cobra Kai creators reimagined The Karate Kid franchise for a modern audience. Bitch Ass writer Bill Posley will write the feature, whose work includes Welcome to Flatch and The Neighborhood.

The film will be produced by Paul Young, who gained prominence during his tenure with Key & Peele. The original characters were not given names in the 1986 classic until now. The film will follow a similar motif of having an adventure within one day. The last time an audience saw the pair was after returning Bueller’s best friend’s father’s vintage Ferrari without any damage but with a considerable amount of mileage on the meter.

The creators are producing the film under their Counterbalance Entertainment company enlisting Dina Hillier, the company’s head of development, as the film’s executive producer. Currently, the production company is handling the new action-comedy series for Netflix, Obliterated.

Richard Edson and Larry ‘Flash’ Jenkins portrayed the nameless valets in the original film. For marketing purposes, Paramount Pictures will cast younger actors for the film to coincide with the film’s timeline. Unfortunately, Larry Jenkins passed away in 2019.
