With less than 100 days before the release of Tears of the Kingdom, fans are eager for any breadcrumbs. Those morsels came in the form of a miniature hour-long Nintendo Direct, a short conference filled to the brim with exciting announcements. Games like Pikmin 4 and Splatoon 3 were major highlights, along with a host of Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games already released to the Nintendo Switch online store.

But the most exciting announcement came in the form of a new trailer for Tears of the Kingdom. This trailer was a mix of gameplay and story elements. The trailer opens with a deep voice thought to belong to Gannondorf calling on his minions to eliminate Hyrule, leaving no survivors. Later on, Zelda's voice pleads for someone to lend Link their power.

On the gameplay side, the trailer shows Link riding a makeshift cart with four wheels, sliding down rails, and flying with the glider seen in previous trailers. Some returning features are the paraglider (now with customization), the blood moon, horseback riding, and what appears to be the magnesis ability. The final shot shows Link jumping down to catch Zelda in a scene lifted from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 or the more recent No Way Home.

Tears of the Kingdom comes to Nintendo Switch on May 12. Check out the trailer below!
