A New 'Lord Of The Rings' Game Has Been Announced By Private Division And Weta Workshop
It seems that Lord of the Rings fans will have a lot to look forward to coming up. While Amazon's The Rings Of Power is generating the most noise, there have also been some video games (one of which comes out September 1st), a mobile game, and an animated movie announced as well. The latest announcement is an untitled game that will be made by Private Division and Weta Workshop.
Private Division is best known for working on Hades and Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The reason most fans will be getting especially excited for this project though is the involvement of Weta Workshop. Weta is the VFX team that brought Middle Earth to life so well in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and looks to have done the same for The Rings of Power. Very little is known as far as plot, characters, or even title goes, but it reportedly won't involve the events of the trilogy.
It will be interesting to see if they try to adapt some of the older lore of The Silmarillion. They might be better suited to a video game in its scope and depth or if they will try to create a new story set within the previously established universe as the upcoming Gollum and Return To Moria games are. Either way, stay tuned here for more details as they come.
