This 12-Year-Old ‘Star Wars’ Fan Breaks Guinness World Record With LEGO Han Solo Set
Haddon Haste, 12 years old, has broken a Guinness World Record for the fastest build time of the LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon microfighter.
When COVID-19 completely changed the face of society, forcing most of the world to go into shutdown to prevent the spread of illness, many used the time to experiment with new hobbies or get better at a skill. Haddon, as if living up to his last name, decided he was going to try and break a world record related to two of his interests: building LEGOs, and Star Wars.
Haddon was able to complete the 101 piece model in a blazingly fast one minute and fifty-nine seconds. He practiced the build every day until he met his goal time.
When speaking to the Guinness World Records website, Haddon’s father Matthew said:
“I am proud of my son for his hard work on this record attempt and I am grateful for your organization for encouraging him to pursue something meaningful in the midst of an otherwise difficult year.”
This is a truly impressive accomplishment. I should know; I decided to go out and buy the microfighter myself (for research purposes!), to see how a 29-year-old stacked up.
It took me eight minutes and twenty-four seconds. [Insert studio laugh track here.]
A huge congratulations to Haddon! Hopefully he’ll continue to build and collect and have the wonderful support of his family. There are two larger scale Millennium Falcon models currently in production that could be a lot of fun for trying to set another world record.
