A Comic Adaptation Of Neil Gaiman's 'Anansi Boys' Is Coming From Dark Horse
Neil Gaiman, author of American Gods and The Sandman is having another work adapted into a comic book series. The Anansi Boys is based on the West African legend of the trickster spider God Anansi. Charlie and Spider are the two magical sons created by Gaiman who have their lives upended after the death of their father. Gaiman famously declined a Hugo nomination for this book but did accept an accolade from British Fantasy.
Dark Horse’s graphic novel launches this June with an eight-issue series. Marc Bernardin, co-host of The Fatman Beyond Podcast with Kevin Smith and writer on Masters of the Universe: Revelation will be adapting the material. Shawn Martinbrough will be taking care of the artwork, however, there are variant covers by David Mack and Denys Cowan.

Amazon has already optioned the rights to the Anansi Boys and the six-episode series supposedly wrapped at the end of May 2023. However, we’ve yet to hear about a release date. Malachi Kirby stars in the lead role, with Fiona Shaw and Whoopi Goldberg also reportedly cast.
But Dark Horse’s graphic novel can more than make up for the wait. If the covers are anything to go by, this is going to be a stellar series.
