A Book About The Beloved 'Stranger Things' Character, Eddie Munson, Will Serve As A Prequel To Season 4

Entertainment Weekly revealed this week an exclusive image for the upcoming novel Stranger Things: Flight Of Icarus, which will be an off-screen way of giving Eddie Munson a much-deserved origin story. This novel comes out on October 31st (Halloween Day) and will have Caitlin Schneiderhan, one of the show’s writers, as the author. Munson’s story in the book will show what happened before season 4, explaining how he came to be the person he was during the latest season of Netflix’s hit series.

The author goes a bit deep on what is going to be covered in the book and how it all connects to the show. Schneiderhan argues that Munson goes through important decisions that ultimately shape his personality and his ideals.

“The Eddie Munson we meet at the beginning of Stranger Things 4 is the protective shepherd to the nerdy lost sheep of Hawkins High. But taking on that mantle wasn't such a cut-and-dry decision (...) I'm so excited for fans to go with him on his journey towards becoming a hero, to experience the messy and uncomfortable decisions that led him to become the brave misfit we all know and love (...) In addition to this, the book’s synopsis tells a bit more about what is going to happen, delving into some key details about his personal life and ultimately an overall view of the plot. Munson has to deal with his father Al, who has been doing something to acquire money for the both of them. Considering this is Eddie’s senior year of high school at Hawkins High and he wants to record music for his band Corroded Coffin, he might have to help old Al with this hustle. Besides his immediate family, Eddie also meets Paige, an interesting girl who has a similar lifestyle to his own. She was able to leave Hawkins High and move to Los Angeles, where she is a music producer. With their goals somewhat aligned, Eddie, his father Al, and Paige may cause some much-needed mayhem in the novel.
