New Set Photos Show Us Detailed Look At Michael Keaton’s Batsuit…And It Looks Awesome!

Warner Brothers seem to be going at it in 2022 with a number of new movies due for release. They are currently swinging big on the Gotham City front with the Robert Pattinson-fronted The Batman, which is coming out soon on March 4, 2022. Batgirl is also another upcoming addition on the horizon to the Bat family. There is currently no release date announced yet, but it is supposed to be making its debut on HBO Max sometime in 2022.

Unlike The Batman, Batgirl will be a fully integrated piece of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). It will feature characters that are well known in the DCEU realm such as J. K. Simmons in his role as Commissioner Jim Gordon. Leslie Grace will be taking the lead as the titular Barbara Gordon and her alter ego Batgirl, introducing the new superhero to the DCEU.

As if a new Batgirl movie in the DCEU is not enough, Warner Brothers are really spoiling us with the announcement that Michael Keaton will be returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Keaton last played this role back in the 1989 Batman and 1992 Batman Returns movies. He has already been confirmed as having a role in the upcoming The Flash movie, also set in the DCEU where he will be playing Bruce Wayne/Batman from Earth-89. There are also reports that he will be acting as a mentor to Barry Allen/The Flash. We have seen Michael Keaton in promotional material for The Flash but he has been absent from any Batgirl marketing so far, until now!

Batgirl Film News (@batgirlfilm) has posted new on set photos on Twitter, giving us our first look at Michael Keaton in his brand new Batsuit during the filming of Batgirl.

It is great to see that they have gone for something completely new and different. They have opted to take the old Michael Keaton Batsuit, keeping it true to the old Tim Burton films, and have given it a few tweaks here and there. This writer actually ended up taking a break from writing this article to go back and watch Batman and Batman Returns as I got very excited looking at the pictures and had to make do with the old school method in the absence of more images of the new suit.

It made me very happy to see them retaining the black bat in a yellow eclipse emblem on the chest of the suit. Only now it looks like it is better integrated into the chest armor, which is a great improvement. They might also have disposed of the old tight, form-fitting look. However, it is possible that this is just a stunt suit and that we will see a form-fitting one in the film as well. Either way it looks absolutely fantastic and channels nostalgia while also looking very fresh and updated.

This classic look is brilliant and has certainly created a real buzz and not a molded nipple in sight! From the photos, it appears that they have stuck with the Nike Air Jordan sneaker design for Batman’s boots that he wore in Batman Returns.

Fans are eagerly awaiting some proper promotional photos to get a much better look at Michael Keaton’s new Batsuit that they can properly study and see the finer details in the changes that might have been made. It is an exciting time to be a Batman fan. This new Batsuit for Batgirl looks awesome!
