Ron Howard Says This About His Daughter In New Interview
Ron Howard is one of the most well-known directors of all time for his work in classic movies such as Cocoon, Willow, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code, and Frost/Nixon. His Hollywood career, which spanned more than fifty years, began with acting roles in The Andy Griffith Show (1960- 1968) and Happy Days (1974- 1980) before he transitioned to primarily directorial roles. It was not until 2018 that Howard began work on Star Wars, one of the most lucrative franchises in movie history. He replaced Phil Lord and Christopher Miller as director of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Nowadays, though, Ron might not even be the most beloved Star Wars director in his own family.
Ron's daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, first got her break as an actress for her roles in The Village, Lady in the Water, and the more recent Jurassic Park trilogy. She is proving she can hold her own in the director's chair, particularly when working on Star Wars projects. Bryce directed two episodes of The Mandalorian, “Chapter 4: Sanctuary” and “Chapter 11: The Heiress.” She was brought back to direct “Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian” of The Book of Boba Fett. All these three episodes are well received by both critics and fans alike.

At the recent Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, Calif., Ron Howard appeared in a panel about the upcoming Light & Magic documentary. He was beaming when asked about his daughter's success:
"Well, I was happy for her, because clearly, it worked. The bosses were happy with her. I had gotten a little wink and a nod from Jon Favreau in a text, 'Hey, she did great,' which made me feel good. She’d been directing for a while, and I’d seen her directing when she was an acting major at NYU. She was already directing plays as well, so I've known it's something that she's really wanted to do.
I've got to say, she never surprises me when she succeeds. I felt comfortable with her getting into the business. At a certain point, when she was in high school and I could see her ambition for it, it was for the work. It was for the process. She loves what's happening, and getting to work with Jon and Dave and everyone at Lucasfilm.
She's learning a lot, she's growing a lot and she can feel it. She also loves the fact that it's a show that has ideas, but it really is for the fans; it really is to try to connect with the audience. And there's a very clear cut... There's a respect for that audience, and that gives her something to understand and aim for that she likes."
Bryce Dallas Howard is a self-proclaimed Star Wars fan. She had spent time on the sets during the production of the prequel trilogy. Her love for the franchise can be felt in her work, and it is one reason why the Star Wars projects she worked on stood above the rest. She hopes to continue her success with the franchise when she directs an episode of The Mandalorian Season 3, which is scheduled for release on Disney+ in February 2023. Fans want to see her direct a future Star Wars movie although there have been no specific announcements concerning any Star Wars movies during Star Wars Celebration 2022.
She is still doing plenty of work in front of the camera, as well. In addition to reprising her role in the final installment of the Jurassic Park trilogy, Bryce is set to appear in the upcoming spy movie Argylle, which is directed by Matthew Vaughn. Bryce Dallas Howard is closely following in her father’s footsteps and leaving her own mark on Tinseltown.
