‘Star Wars’ Reveals The Dark Reason Behind This Part Of Boba Fett's Suit
The Star Wars universe is so vast and the stories are so intricate that no matter how much we think we have learned about the stories, there is always more. The writers and creators of the movies, comics, television series, and books have created this universe that in and of itself seems almost alive. It is ever evolving and full of surprises. Unfortunately, some of those surprises that we find out about are not always feel good or happy story information. Sometimes they can be downright tragic as is the case with a recent story in the Star Wars comics.
Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #3 reveals some seriously terrible and tragic details about Boba Fett’s armor and the Wookiee Chewbacca. In the War of the Bounty Hunters comic series, and in the previous issues, Boba Fett has been determined to reclaim his stolen bounty, Han Solo encased in carbonite. The Crimson Dawn crime syndicate had stolen the infamous smuggler, and aimed to use him re-legitimize their operations by selling him to the highest bidder. Of course this has gained the attention of several crime groups, and led to interesting run-ins. It has also piqued the interested of both the Rebellion and the Empire, who are both wanting to acquire Han Solo. This has, of course, resulted in a lot of competition for Boba Fett who just wants Han Solo so he can restore his reputation.

In Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #3 by writer Charles Soule and artist Luke Ross, several of the interested parties collide in their respective quests, which results in Boba Fett coming face to face with the Rebellion and the Empire. In the story, we see Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt arguing over carbonite Han Solo at Crimson Dawn’s auction. Meanwhile, Boba Fett confronts Leia, Lando, and Chewbacca, who are waiting in the shadows of this auction for the right time to strike and smuggle Han Solo out of there.

Boba Fett ends up challenging Chewbacca to a one-on-one duel, all the while taunting him and pointing to his armor and the braids he wears over his shoulder, suggesting that they could have belonged to Chewbacca’s family members.
“You're not the first Wookiee I've fought. Now you know what happens when I do.”
Of course this does not go over well with Chewbacca who has been known “to rip people’s arms off” when angry.
Below are the preview pages which feature the episode between Chewbacca and Boba Fett.
The promotional/synopsis information for Star Wars: War of the Bounty #3 was released as this:
“STAR WARS: WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS #3 (OF 5)
WINNER TAKES ALL!
Terrifying, implacable Dark Lord of the Sith DARTH VADER has laid claim to HAN SOLO, who is frozen in carbonite.
But the great, exalted JABBA THE HUTT also believes that Solo is his property. It's the galaxy's baddest gangster versus the Empire's most powerful enforcer, and neither is backing down.
BOBA FETT is caught between a Sith and a Hutt...and it's WINNER TAKE ALL.”
It is not surprising to die-hard fans that Boba Fett’s braids on his armor could belong to scalps of Wookiees, or even potentially Padawan braids. However, it is surprising that the braids could belong to Chewbacca’s own family members. Of course, this idea does make Chewbacca quite upset. Boba Fett tries to get the Rebels out of the picture so he can swoop in and take carbonite frozen Han Solo. He does this by taunting Chewbacca to make the first move and take him down. Not sure if this was the most bright idea, seeing as how Wookiees are extremely strong. Since the braids are obviously Wookiee scalps/hair, Boba Fett seems quite capable at fighting Wookiees and win.
In the preview pages, we also see Boba Fett threatening to make another braid for himself out of Chewbacca’s hair. The preview ends at this point, but the threat definitely means we will see a full-on fight between Boba Fett and Chewbacca. The question remains, of course, who will win? The preview also teases a showdown between Darth Vader and Jabba the Hutt, which could also lead to something big.
Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters #3 released on August 18th. It will be very interesting to see where the story goes from here. What other surprises might the Star Wars creatives throw at fans?
