We Bet You Have Never Seen This Footage From ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ With Boba Fett And Cad Bane

As we approach the end of The Book of Boba Fett, fans are scouring the internet for every last piece of Boba Fett to try and see where the series may be working towards in the finale. This has led to the internet unearthing a lost scene from an unfinished storyline from The Clone Wars animated series in 2014 before it was canceled and resurrected on Netflix. In The Clone Wars, we have seen Cad Bane taking on the son of his friend and fellow bounty hunter Jango Fett under his wings. This unfinished arc would have led to a stand-off between fans’ two favorite bounty hunters.

The clip, crudely animated before the geniuses at Lucasfilm got their hands on it, brings us a clash of the titans in the bounty hunting world. Young Boba Fett is trying to bargain with Cad Bane in order to stop some kind of anarchy on the planet they are on. Cad appears to have the upper hand with the capture of Hondo Ohnaka and his droid, no doubt attempting a double-cross in the hopes of making more money. Boba and Cad are then joined by fellow bounty hunters Bossk and Embo. Boba appears to give Bossk and Embo a simple nod, and they back off from the confrontation. Cad then decides that it is better to deal with this problem on his own. The short clip ends with Cad and Boba in a Western-style standoff. They both fire at each other at the same time. Boba’s helmet gets its now-infamous dent, but the fate of Cad is left in the balance.

Boba does not have much of an arc in The Clone Wars series. He is only featured in three episodes at the end of season 2 going into season 3. As recently as 2017, Filoni and the rest of the team from the first run of The Clone Wars would have Cad taking on Boba as an apprentice, trying to make their mark in the world. Boba would eventually kill Cad, over-taking him as THE bounty hunter in the galaxy. If this story arc had unfolded, it would explain why Boba was so highly sought out by the Empire as a go-to bounty hunter, as seen in his appearance in Empire Strike Back. Cad Bane was the Sith’s guy in The Clone Wars with his constant work with Count Dooku and Darth Sidious, so it would stand to reason that if you take out the best, you get all his work. It would also explain why we have probably not seen much of Cad Bane in the films or in the television series because he had been killed off.

In last year’s The Bad Batch, Cad Bane arrives to try and capture the rogue clone Omega.  Eagle-eyed viewers have noted that Cad has a new addition to his look in the form of a metal plate on his head. We have come to see in Book of Boba Fett that no one has an issue running to your local cyborg drop-in clinic and getting some new upgrades to your body, like a new skull per se. This appears to make the unaired scene canon within the Star Wars universe.

To the delight of Bad Batch viewers, this scene was recreated in a duel between Cad and Hunter. However, Cad did not succumb to the same implied fate as in the clip shown above. This opens the door to his return to the animated universe and potentially another showdown with Boba Fett.

The recent fan attention shows that there is an appetite for this confrontation. Filoni and the rest of the Bad Batch crew have a chance to bring us an epic showdown, which could rival the meeting between Ahsoka and Maul in season 7 of Clone Wars or Ezra and Thrawn in Rebels.
