‘Ahsoka’ Series Will Reportedly Include A Lot Of Screen Time For Grand Admiral Thrawn

Fans have been speculating about what would happen on Ahsoka ever since the series has been announced. We knew that Rosario Dawson would be reprising the role in the live action series. It now appears that Grand Admiral Thrawn will finally make his live action debut and not in a limited capacity. This news should leave fans smiling from ear to ear as he is one of the characters they have been most vocal about seeing. He is being touted as a series lead, indicating he could have just as big of a presence in the series as Ahsoka herself.

Hailing from the Chiss race of aliens, Thrawn is one of the few nonhumans to have received such a high rank within the Imperial Army. He is very intelligent and is known for coming up with grand schemes that allow for his fellow officers to have just as much input as he does. It is why he is so feared but also so respected. If you are loyal, he will continue to hear your ideas and thoughts. Originally introduced in 1991 in Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire, Thrawn has become a beloved Star Wars villain over the years. He returned to canon when he was finally reintroduced in Star Wars Rebels

After the events of Rebels it was believed that both he and Ezra Bridger were lost in space. However, during her appearance on The Mandalorian, Ahsoka directly refers to him by name. That would mean his presence is still known and felt throughout the galaxy and he is still very much a threat. Rosario Dawson has also spoken out candidly in interviews which gives credence to the idea that original voice actor Lars Mikkelson may be reprising his role in live action when the time comes.

There are other characters from Rebels that have already been confirmed to make a return. Natasha Liu Bordizzo has been cast as Sabine Wren while Mena Massoud is heavily rumored to be playing Ezra Bridger. It is also widely known among the fandom that Hayden Christensen will once again play Anakin Skywalker in this series after making an appearance on Obi-wan Kenobi

Plot details surrounding Ahsoka have been kept relatively hush hush but her very brief appearance in The Mandalorian gives fans much to salivate over as they plant their own potential plot threads. It seems like they are going to rely heavily on the characters that already have tied into Ahsoka's story to continue to push her narrative forward. With the universe ever expanding and the gaps in the timeline filled in through The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and now Ahsoka, one can maybe begin to speculate about what other supporting characters could be seen.

Ahsoka has yet to enter production with a tentative start date set for March of 2022. We should expect more casting news as that date approaches when filming begins. Disney/Lucasfilm does often attempt to avoid set photos from leaking until a teaser trailer is released. With a spring date circled on the calendar, let's hope a teaser trailer is ready for the 2022 Disney Investor Day.

Star Wars fans have plenty to be excited for heading into a new year with plenty of cool stories ready to burst onto our screens. It is nice to see Disney and Lucasfilm listening to demands and giving life to characters that fans have long been clamoring for. It is an early Christmas surprise to know that when Thrawn does make his debut it will not just be in a limited capacity. Until more Ahsoka news is confirmed, fans are eagerly awaiting The Book of Boba Fett premiere and they won't have to wait much longer.
