Spider-Man Actor Andrew Garfield Is Stepping Away From Acting After His Newest Project

Despite the call and desire from Marvel fans and Spider-Man fans for “The Amazing Spider-Man 3”, Andrew Garfield is ready to take a break. After the immense success with “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, Garfield continued work on other projects that have apparently taken a considerable amount of energy and time.

The other projects he has most recently been working on have been “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”, “Tick, Tick…Boom!”, and now he can now be seen in “Under the Banner of Heaven” from FX on Hulu. This is a limited series adaptation of Jon Krakauer’s 2003 true-crime book. The series was written by Dustin Lance Black and directed by David Mackenzie, with Garfield playing the lead role of Detective Pyre in the limited series. In this series, Pyre is a Mormon detective investigating the death of a mother and her daughter. A pair of deaths that appear to have been done by fellow Mormons in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. An interesting situation to say the least.

Garfield made comments on the plans he has for this next part of his life to Marc Malkin from Variety, “I’m going to rest for a little bit. I need to recalibrate and reconsider what I want to do next and who I want to be and just be a bit of a person for a while. Because as you know, that is a washing machine, that awards season. I need to just be a bit ordinary for a while.”

No doubt Garfield is totally fine with the recognition. He received his second Oscar nomination for “Tick, Tick…Boom!”, but everyone needs to take a rest period eventually. This is especially true when you are working non-stop on projects and then go to many parties and events for awards. Not to mention being berated for so long on whether he was in Spider-Man: No Way Home or not.

It does beg questions concerning future projects Garfield’s fans want him to participate in. Does this hurt or even stop completely the small chances of having an Amazing Spider-Man 3? Who might end up being the Spider-Man in the Sony-verse if not Andrew Garfield? Could this be another move by Andrew Garfield to keep secrets since no one trusts him anymore to tell the truth? Only time will tell how long of a break Andrew Garfield desires to take from acting. In the meantime, we can enjoy Garfield’s newest project, “Under the Banner of Heaven”, on Hulu now.
