Vin Diesel surely knows how to ride wild, untamed beasts. But this time, for once we are not talking about cars, but dinosaurs.

A trailer for the sequel to the 2017 video game Ark: Survival Evolved has just been released and it shows the Fast & Furious star riding a stomping T-Rex. Unfortunately, for those who can’t wait to return to a world, where humans are no longer the dominant species but have to fight for survival against dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, the release date for Ark 2 has been pushed back to 2023.

But Vin Diesel nevertheless brought some fascinating news via his Instagram account: Wildcard, the development studio behind the game has asked the action star to bring the IP to the big screen, an offer that Vin Diesel could not refuse.

Right now, no information on this project is available, but it seems as if Vin Diesel will not only star in the movie but probably also have a producer role, as he explicitly stated that he will “shepherd” the movie, which is probably still in early stages of development, so a release before the end of next year, is highly unlikely.

But the video game sequel and the big screen adventure are not the only Ark projects currently in development: additionally, there will be an animated series, consisting of 14 episodes (for season 1) and starring an all-star cast including Gerard Butler, David Tennant, Michelle Yeoh, Jeffrey Wright, Zahn McClarnon, Elliot Page, Karl Urban, Malcolm McDowell, Alan Tudyk, Russell Crowe, and Vin Diesel, who is also an executive producer for the series.

Ark: The Animated Series will debut later in 2022 and will act as an introduction to the world of the video game at various points in time.
