‘Star Wars’ Found The Most Ridiculous Ways To Replace Boba Fett In Legends

The Book of Boba Fett is finally answering the age-old questions about what happened to the bounty hunter after the events of Return of the Jedi. This is not the first time, however, that the future of the bounty hunter has been explored. Star Wars Legends once took a crack at this very story.

Within that continuity, Fett was seemingly replaced by just another bounty hunter with the same personality named Jodo Kast. He even went as far as to wear similar armor and cash in on the fame Fett once notoriously held. Kast turned against the bounty hunter code to do this. Fett did eventually return in the Legends storyline, having survived the altercation with the Sarlacc pit, and reclaimed his rightful title. Fett hunted down Kast and used his jet pack against him to show everyone who the true bounty hunter was, thus regaining the reputation he had once earned.

The major difference between Kast and Fett was in the way of transportation. Fett was known for parading around the galaxy in the Slave 1 while Kast used The Foxcatch, which was a weaponized version of a Lambada ship. Kast also stole most of Fetts signature weapons and was prone to using poison darts, which is something we did see Jango Fett use in the prequel trilogy. Despite all the similarities between the two, it seemed like Fett was relentless in his quest for vengeance against Kast, which was why he became the ultimate winner in their showdown. Before ultimately meeting his demise at the hands of Boba Fett, Kast was at least able to show his strengths as a businessman. Book of Boba Fett will likely take a different approach with Fett already confirming he would rather rule with respect than fear, unlike what Jabba and Bib Fortuna did.

During Fett’s absence, fans were able to see what other bounty hunter-style characters may look like within this massive universe. However the particular storyline just ended up reassuring fans that Boba Fett is one of the toughest bounty hunters IN the galaxy.

The Mandalorian took a similar approach in season two with the character of Cobb Vanth having Fett's armor. We got to see already how Vanth would have come into possession of said armor in the pilot episode of The Book of Boba Fett. It will be interesting to see if the series will use a similar storyline or create something entirely new for Boba to endure. Book of Boba Fett seems to be juxtaposing the story of survival along with Fett’s current rise to become the powerful criminal king of the underworld. It is hard to say if a character that is similar in style to Kast could fit within this narrative given that The Mandalorian already used Cobb Vanth.

It goes without saying that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau likely have something fun and exciting planned for Book of Boba Fett regardless of whether it adapts this story from the Legends continuity or goes with something completely original. While it would be a cool storyline to explore in Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian, it seems like Star Wars is finally on a trajectory that most fans would agree is a very positive one. They could find ways to incorporate more of the things that have been deemed noncanonical over the years with some cool new twists.

We will see in the coming weeks as Book of Boba Fett unfolds what the writers and producers have chosen for this first season. It is sure to be a thrilling ride with the world's most recognizable bounty hunter and his rag tag group of survival friends and those he will encounter along the way.
