On May 4th or Star Wars Day, fans were treated to a new series called, Tales Of The Empire. Similar to Tales Of The Jedi, it focused on two different characters. The first half focused on Morgan Elsbeth, whom we were first introduced to in The Mandalorian and saw more of her later in Ahsoka. The second half focused on the former Jedi, Barriss Offee, who was imprisoned for blowing up the Jedi temple and later joined the Inquisitors. Like any Star Wars content nowadays, there will be the little details and easter eggs scattered throughout. Let’s look at some of the best ones from this season.

7. Morgan Elsbeth Episode Titles

The first three episodes, “The Path Of Fear”, “The Path Of Anger”, and “The Path Of Hate”, focus on Morgan Elsbeth. The episode titles tie into the popular Yoda quote “Fear leads to anger. Hate leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering”. They also describe Morgan’s journey during the three episodes. She learns to fear the Separatists, especially when they massacre her sisters. This leads to her giving in to her anger and eventually aligning herself with Grand Admiral Thrawn

In the second episode, we find out that Morgan was the original creator behind the TIE Defenders. The TIE Defender was first seen in the 1994 video game, Star Wars: TIE Fighter. We later saw it appear in Star War Rebels season 3. The ships are also mentioned in Thrawn: Alliances, where Thrawn shares his admiration for them.

5. Captain Pellaeon Appearance

Even though Morgan is the creator of the TIE Defenders, her idea is rejected by her Imperial superiors. She is approached by Captain Gilad Pellaeon, who debuted in Timothy Zahn’s Heir To The Empire book, and his name is the first word in the book as well. In the book, he was Thrawn’s right-hand man. We saw him make his canon, and live-action debut in season 3 of The Mandalorian. Xander Berkely, who played the live-action version, is back voicing him in the animated version.

4. Distress Call To Bo-Katan

In the third and final episode of Morgan’s story, we see the New Republic pay a visit to Calodan, the Capital City of Corvus. Senator Nadura brings news that the Empire has been defeated, and they are here to arrest Morgan. Of course, she puts up a fight, and it doesn’t end well for Nadura. Before she died, she was able to send a distress call to none other than Bo-Katan Kryze

3. The Fourth Sister Returns

In Barriss’s story, we see the return of the Fourth Sister, who first appeared in Obi-Wan Kenobi. She frees Barriss from her cell and teaches her how to be a proper Inquisitor. Rya Kihlstedt returns to voice the character.

2. Two Familiar Inquisitors

As Barriss listens to the Grand Inquisitor, we see two familiar masks next to her. One of them is the Inquisitor that Ahsoka Tano fought, and killed, in Tales Of The Jedi. The other is Marrok, whom we were introduced to in Ahsoka, where he also died by Ahsoka’s hand.

1. The Use Of Caves

Caves

As weird as it sounds, caves have played an important part in Star Wars. In Empire Strikes Back, we see Luke face off with a vision of Darth Vader in a cave on Dagobah. In the sequels, Rey sees herself in the Mirror Cave on Ahch-To. In Tales Of The Empire, the Fourth Sister chases Barriss into a cave. However, the Inquisitor starts to go a bit mad in the cave. She seemed to have a change of heart when confronted by Barriss.

Star Wars always includes fun easter eggs in their content. Some are more obvious than others, but it’s always exciting when you’re able to see something familiar.
