Ahsoka Tano burst onto the scene in the 2008 Star Wars movie The Clone Wars. The movie also served as a launching point for the series that lasted seven seasons and developed an almost rabid cult-like following. A Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, the teenage Togruta learned at the hands of the most famous General during the three-year war between the Separatists and the Republic.

Ahsoka appeared in six out of seven seasons of The Clone Wars and then reappeared as one of the most pivotal characters in the Rebels series. Codenamed Fulcrum at first, Ahsoka served as a liaison between different Rebel cells. Eventually becoming an honorary member of The Ghost Crew, she disappeared after saving Ezra Bridger and Kanan from Vader on Malachor. Her most recent appearance was in The Mandalorian’s second season, where she helped Din Djarin locate a Jedi Master for his adopted son, Grogu. Lady Tano will finally be starring in her own show this year, but before that premieres, here’s a list of 5 essential Ahsoka Tano episodes that will help fans prepare.

5. The Clone Wars Season 2, Episode 6: “Weapons Factory”

It has been rumored that Barriss Offee would return for the Ahsoka series and tie up her arc that was left ambiguous at the end of the fifth season of The Clone Wars. In their first meeting, the Padawans of Anakin Skywalker and Luminara Unduli were tasked with sneaking into and blowing up a droid factory on Geonosis. The mission (like most) goes awry and the two are trapped in an explosion and almost killed. Thanks to Ahsoka’s resourcefulness, the duo is rescued and become friends, despite their vastly different personalities. This episode is not the most explosive of the list, but Ahsoka’s connection with Barriss eventually leads to her being framed and kicked out of the Jedi Order. With Offee not having an onscreen death, it is possible (especially in the Star Wars universe) that she could come back as a character in the Ahsoka series.

4. The Clone Wars Season 5, Episode 9: “ A Necessary Bond”

It would be irresponsible not to include Hondo Ohnaka on this list. The “Jack Sparrow” of Star Wars has had many confrontations with the Jedi and Ahsoka, but the most memorable came during a four-episode arc in Season 5 of The Clone Wars. On the way back from Ilum, a group of Padawans, R2-D2, Professor Huyang, and Ahsoka are attacked by Hondo and his men. Ahsoka is captured, but is quickly rescued by the younglings. The episode begins with the rescued Tano and the group attempting to flee towards a transport off-world. The plan fails, and the group is unfortunately recaptured.

Meanwhile, General Grievous arrives and captures Hondo and his men as retribution for their attempted ransoming of Count Dooku. The pirates realize they must work with Ahsoka and fight their common enemy in order to escape the planet. The resolution is a happy one, and the last scene includes Hondo telling Obi-Wan that he owes him a lot of money because he was “staging a rescue,” and of course not kidnapping Jedi Padawans. Professor Huyang has already been spotted in the Ahsoka trailer, and it is rumored that Hondo could appear as well. Additionally, with Gungi (the Wookiee Jedi youngling in the episode) reappearing in the series The Bad Batch, it is possible he is still alive and could join the Ahsoka series as well.

3. The Mandalorian Season 2, Episode 5: “Chapter 13: The Jedi”

Ahsoka’s live-action debut was inevitable; it finally arrived in the second season of The Mandalorian. Din Djarin had been looking for a Jedi Master to take care of his foundling Grogu (for a few episodes) and after he helps Bo-Katan, she points him in the direction of Ahsoka. The episode waited for no one as it showcased Ahsoka’s lightsaber skill and fearlessness in its cold open. She cuts down several enemies and warns the Magistrate to give her the information she seeks. Their leader (Morgan Elsbeth) refuses and threatens Ahsoka with the death of the townspeople if she attacks. The former Jedi (knowing the townspeople are already suffering) gives her enemy one day to surrender. Din Djarin arrives shortly after and is propositioned by Elsbeth to track and kill the Jedi. She offers him a spear of pure beskar as a reward.

Din plays along to discover the location of Tano and begins tracking her. He locates her quickly and after a short fight, the two begin talking. She informs Din that “Baby Yoda” (as he was described by fans) was really named Grogu and was a former student at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. She tells Din that he was rescued from there, but that she will be unable to train him. He counters with an offer to help her with her enemy if she agrees to help Grogu be trained. The two succeed in their attack and free the townspeople. Ahsoka keeps her word and points Din towards the planet Tython, where he is to place Grogu on a seeing stone to see if he will choose to contact a Jedi Master who can help. This episode had a few amazing moments (learning Grogu’s name and a Yoda name drop) but the best part was the knowledge that Grand Admiral Thrawn (and Ezra Bridger) are alive and possibly on their way.

2. The Clone Wars Season 7, Episode 10: “The Phantom Apprentice”

Ahsoka battling Darth Maul on Mandalore.

In the Top 10 on IMBD for one of the best episodes of all time, The Phantom Apprentice did not disappoint. Full of action, drama, and chilling score, the third-to-last episode of The Clone Wars blew away fans and impressed critics. As the episode begins, we see Ahsoka surrounded by Maul and his cohort. Instead of attacking, Maul taunts the young Padawan and informs her that a figure named Darth Sidious would soon bring an end to both the Republic and the Jedi. He is interrupted by Captain Rex and his men as they provide support to Tano. Maul gets away, and Ahsoka brings the information she learned to Kenobi via holo communication. Ahsoka learns that the Jedi believe Sidious orchestrated the Clone War and that Count Dooku was recently killed by Anakin.

Shortly afterward, Maul attacks a group of clone troopers and kidnaps the older trooper, Jesse. He looks into his mind, searching for information on Ahsoka. Meanwhile, Ahsoka and Bo-Katan are interrogating Almec, who informed them that Maul’s true target is a person named Skywalker. Bo, Rex, and Ahsoka have no time to process the situation as Maul appears out of nowhere. He returns Jesse to Rex and distracts Bo-Katan with a battle, leaving him and Ahsoka to speak. As the battle rages on just outside the throne room, Ahsoka agrees to help Maul, as everything he says seems to makes sense. She pulls back when he reveals that Anakin is a key part of Sidious's plan and that he would eventually become the Dark Lord’s new apprentice. Unwilling to believe him, she chooses to fight, and the two engage in one of the best fights in the saga. Ahsoka comes out on top.

1. Rebels Season 2, Episodes 21 & 22: “Twilight of the Apprentice”

Twilight of the Apprentice is possibly one of the greatest pieces of Star Wars media to ever be created. The two-part season finale features the return of Darth Maul, the beginning of Ezra’s flirtation with the Dark Side, Ahsoka’s disappearance, Kanan being blinded, and one of the greatest lightsaber duels ever. The episode begins with Kanan, Ezra, and Ahsoka headed to Malachor. In a previous conversation with Yoda, the old Jedi Master informs Ezra about his next steps, and that he must go to Malachor to reach them. The trio heads there with Chopper in tow, but are ambushed by Inquisitors. The group is separated, and Ezra is discovered by an older Darth Maul now going by the name, Oldmaster. He manipulates the younger Ezra into believing that he can help and teach him the secrets of the temple (which is secretly a Sith weapon), much to the dismay of Ahsoka and Kanan. The situation explodes as Maul helps the Jedi temporarily, but eventually reveals that he intends to train Ezra and use the temple as a weapon for himself. He eliminates the Inquisitors and turns on the Jedi once Ezra is away. He then blinds Kanan but loses the battle with him that follows. He flees, and Ezra realizes too late that he has been duped, as he activates the Sith battle station.

As Ezra tries to regroup with his master and Ahsoka, Vader arrives and attempts to claim the temple’s power for himself. Bridger is quickly overpowered, but is saved by Ahsoka. Vader attempts to bring Ahsoka to the dark side, but the reunion abruptly turns violent. During the fight, Ahsoka breaks Vader's helmet and sees Anakin's face during the battle and, for one second, it seemed she could reach her friend. The moment turns cold and unresolved as the two are trapped in an explosion that injures Vader and leaves Tano’s fate ambiguous. The final shot of The Ghost Crew, Vader, and Ahsoka disappearing went above and beyond for what some call a "silly kids' show."
