The Best Side Characters In 'The Clone Wars'

Star Wars: The Clone Wars gave us many great Anakin and Obi-Wan moments, and even introduced Ahsoka Tano, who is now a beloved character in Star Wars. It expanded on what the prequels started, and even had a different POV at the end of the show that coincided with Revenge of the Sith. The show mainly focused on the Jedi, and characters we were already familiar with, thanks to the movies, but what about those on the side? Many characters in The Clone Wars were introduced, and some were only supposed to be in a few episodes, but are now beloved in the fandom. These characters expand on the galaxy we already know, and give it more meaning. Some are forgotten, but some are favorites, and have even appeared in live action. These are the best side characters in The Clone Wars.

Rex

Clone Captain Rex is a beloved character now, and many fan's favorite clone. He was important to the very end, and Ahsoka was able to save him during Order 66, and get the chip out of his head. Rex was the way we saw the clones' individuality. He always fights for what is right.

RELATED:

Cad Bane

One of the best, and most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy. Cad Bane is now an iconic character in Star Wars. Even though he causes so much chaos, while at the same time remaining super cool, you can't help but like him. He most recently made a live action appearance in The Book of Boba Fett, where he was unfortunately killed, but many fans think he could still come back.

Hondo Ohnaka

He's a character that isn't really good or bad. Yes, he leans more toward the "bad" side, but isn't ever villainous. He has become a fan-favorite for his sneaky ways, memorable quotes, and for being an all-around great character.

Asajj Ventress

One of the best characters in all of Star Wars. A woman that starts out on the dark side, under Count Dooku, who is eventually betrayed, and then even teams up with Obi-Wan Kenobi to fight Darth Maul and his brother, Savage Opress. She eventually becomes a bounty hunter, and even starts to give up the dark side. Unfortunately she meets her untimely death when she is with Quinlan Vos.

Bo-Katan

Bo-Katan is now known by more than just Clone Wars fans. She most recently has appeared in the live-action Star Wars show, The Mandalorian, and is even rumored to be the villain in Season 3. She is the leader of Death Watch, and thinks she deserves to be the leader of Mandalore too, she just needs to win the Darksaber.

Plo Koon

We saw a little bit of this Jedi in the movies, but you get to know him more in the show. He is one who discovered Ahsoka, and who saw the clones as more than numbered soldiers. Plo Koon was always patient and kind. He always believed in Ahsoka, and that makes him pretty cool.

The Bad Batch

The reject clones. The clones that were different from the others. The Bad Batch learn how to help others, and fight back against the Empire.

Savage Opress and Darth Maul

We all know Darth Maul from The Phantom Menace, when he gets sliced in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi. He is eventually found by his brother, Savage Opress, and has gone mad. He is fixed by the night mother, and eventually is back to his normal self, and has his heart set on finding Kenobi and getting revenge. Savage is by his side, until he meets his end. Maul comes back and gets an awesome story, with a fitting end.

And lastly, an honorable mention to Gungi

Yes, he was only in a few episodes, but he is still a great character. He had a great journey when he went to find his kyber crystal, overcame his fear, and completed his quest. He then proceeded to build one of the coolest lightsabers. I'm so happy we'll get to see him in The Bad Batch.

Every character in The Clone Wars has a purpose. Some however, have more of an impact. The Clone Wars gifted us to know Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme a little bit more, and introduced Ahsoka. However, the side characters, were important to their stories, and to Star Wars as a whole. We've been lucky to see some in live action, and I hope we see more.
