Having access to over three million books on Kindle Unlimited gives a reader plenty of choice, but that means some of those titles might be unusual. Spicy romance authors are not afraid to let their writing take them to places that the imaginations of normal folk fear to tread. These are some of the weirdest romance books on Kindle Unlimited. ‘Dead Dove do not eat’…..we warned you. These titles are all meant for over 18s only due to their adult content.

7. Bunny (Layla Fae)

This is book eight in Layla Fae’s Monster Ever After series, each of which focuses on a different seasonal Monster. A Hot himbo male easter bunny arrives in a single mother’s garden. He brings chocolate, so it’s not that hard to see why she let him in and didn’t just call the police.

6. Seduced By The Pumpkin Spiced Latte (Evelyn Cloves)

This novella is technically satire about how much everyone goes nuts for pumpkin spice in October. But yes, the drink and the main character do spend the entire novella flirting outrageously. Less spicy than the other entries, because it’s a hot beverage, but worth a read. Entirely underrated on Goodreads.

5. Wet Hot Allosaurus Summer (Lola Faust)

This book was made famous by Tiktok. A farm girl meets a dinosaur named Big Al, and it all escalates from there. Big Al eats her infected arm as well as their romantic interactions. Dino-erotica is on the rise, and there are several titles to choose from on KU; however, this one can also be found on Audible.

4. Ghost Raptor Seduction (Eden Red)

The ghosts of dinosaurs from a dig site haunt an archaeologist and her ‘enemies to lovers’ romantic interest. Ghost Raptor Seduction is a dino-erotica paranormal romance. Was that even a genre before this book?  Eden Redd might be the first and only author to attempt this mash-up. And yes, the dead raptors do get involved in the spicy scenes.

3. Unhinged (Vera Valentine)

Heroine, Tana has a sentient door in her apartment. It does eventually shapeshift into a descendant of Zeus, but she has to get hot and heavy with it first. The doorknob is the focal point of the book. Unsurprisingly, TikTok has had a lot of videos about this one and it’s soaring up the Kindle charts.

2. Breeding With Bigfoot (Siggy Shade)

Breeding With Bigfoot

The whole book is one long pregnancy trope, and Bigfoot is the father. If that wasn’t enough the female main character needs daily infusions of Sasquatch’s ‘special milk’.  The writer gets very creative with certain parts of Bigfoot’s anatomy which may leave the reader with questions. The dead dove tag was made for the book.

1. Squeak (Vera Valentine)

Squeak

A novella from the mind of Valentine, who let’s face it, has a talent for the unusual romance genre. Squeak (and its sequel) is about balloon animal shapeshifters in the omegaverse. The omegaverse is a subgenre of fiction that’s started to show up in dark romance, especially werewolf-shifting novels. It was birthed from fanfiction on AO3. It’s a lore unto itself and It’s not for the fainthearted.

Honorable Mentions

These works are not on Kindle Unlimited, but they are so weird that they deserve a brief mention.

Taken by The Toaster by Dick Thumper is an erotica parody about one man and his brand-new toaster.

Hedging His Bets by Celia Kyle and Mina Carter - The male protagonist is a bad boy motorbike-riding hedgehog shapeshifter.

By the time this list goes to print, another author somewhere will have self-published something that may top everything on this list. Writers are always pushing boundaries. Sometimes that gives us a whole new genre of writing, sometimes it gives us a (slightly satirical?) take that no one has ever thought of. And sometimes a small handful of people, whose likes don’t fit into the mainstream will find their new favorite read or guilty pleasure.
