7 Interesting Facts About Cad Bane
Most fans recognize Cad Bane near-instantly at this point. He has had a long list of appearances in the Star Wars Franchise, both on and off-screen. One of the most feared bounty hunters in the galaxy, Bane made a name for himself during the waning years of the Republic. He worked for numerous clients during the Clone Wars, including Jabba the Hutt and Count Dooku. After the fall of the Republic, Bane worked for criminal elements, including the Pyke Syndicate. Who eventually led Cad to Tatooine and Boba Fett. Unfortunately for Cad Bane, Boba was able to get the upper hand in their climactic fight and leave Bane for dead on the streets of Mos Espa. In reverence of one of the most fearsome bounty hunters in the galaxy, we have gathered some interesting facts about one of the most dangerous bounty hunters in the galaxy.
7): Cad Bane Was Trained By Jango Fett
Jango Fett was more than just Boba's father and the template for the clone army. He was one of the most respected bounty hunters in the galaxy. So it should come as no surprise that Jango mentored a young Cad Bane. This is why Cad was so good at hunting Jedi. Mandalorian warriors developed their battle style specifically to counter the Jedi, who the Mandalorians considered formidable opponents. This is why Bane can be seen making frequent use of his gauntlets and their various attachments to deal with the saber-wielding warriors.

6): Bane Worked With Darth Maul Before He Was Revealed To The Jedi
Before the Battle of Naboo, Maul worked from the shadows at the behest of his master Darth Sidious. But on one particular occasion, Maul needed a few hands. Meeting with a group of bounty hunters that included Cad Bane and Aurra Sing on Nar Shaddaa. Maul recruited the group to help him acquire a Jedi Padawan named Eldra Kaitis from an auction hosted by Xev Xrexus.
After the auction, Maul and the group of bounty hunters found and killed the winner of the auction Jee Kra and stole his gunship, fleeing with the Padawan with Cad at the helm. It was then that Cad admitted to Aurra that he was uneasy with their employer, and the two discussed killing Maul. However, the ship was sabotaged, and after a crash landing, the group fought their way to another ship commandeering it for their use, while Maul dueled and killed the Jedi.
5): Boba Fett Was Mentored By Cad Bane
Following the death of Jango Fett, Boba's father, the younger Fett fell under the tutelage of Cad Bane. Much like Cad had been mentored by the boy's father. Despite Bane and Jango's history, he never really took to Boba, remaining cold and distant. Boba Fett, of course, would eventually take Cad Bane's life after Cad challenged him to a duel on Tatooine after the fall of the Empire.
4): Bane Sold The Schematics Of The Jedi Temple To The Separatists
During the later years of the Clone Wars, Cad Bane was approached by Separatist captain Rackham Sear to procure plans of the Jedi Temple for a suicide bombing. Sear had believed that the Jedi had sided against liberty and justice. So in response, he orchestrated a bombing of the Jedi Temple. Once Bane had delivered him the plans, Captain Sear infiltrated the Temple through the air ducts as Cad Bane had during his heist of a Jedi Holocron. Unfortunately for Sear, Caleb Dume and his master Depa Billaba were able to corner him on the roof of the central spire of the Temple. He jumped to his death as opposed to being captured by the pair of Jedi.
3): Bane Was Supposed To Be A Smoker Until Lucasfilm Changed The Cigarettes To Toothpicks
Initially, when planning the character of Cad Bane, Dave Filoni wanted him to smoke cigarettes. This makes a lot of sense, given Bane was based on gunslingers of the old west. Fortunately for the young viewers of The Clone Wars, Lucasfilm decided to change the cigarettes to toothpicks. Dave Filoni states that cigarettes were deemed a negative image and too commercial-like to stay in the show.
2): Cad Bane Was Based On Angel Eyes From 'The Good The Bad And The Ugly
Few western films are as iconic as The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, from the epic score to the grand mythos of the gunslinger, and western movies play a big part in the history of Star Wars George Lucas cites them as a significant influence in the films. During the run of The Clone Wars, the plan was initially to have no side villains and focus on the greater conflict. However, the need for a bounty hunter became apparent after a while. So Dave Filoni decided to pay homage to the genre that helped shape Star Wars. Cad Bane is a love letter to the spaghetti western, from his wide-brim hats to his proficiency with quick-drawing his blasters. Corey Burton, the voice and actor of Cad Bane, based his performance on Lee Van Cleef's performance in the movie.
1): Cad Bane Has A Very Unusual Ship, The Justifier
We see The Justifier, Cad Bane's new ship, during The Bad Batch season one. At first, the design doesn't seem very remarkable, but the ship has a hidden feature that makes it very unique. The singular thruster could reorient itself on the fly, making it a very maneuverable ship seeing as the thruster could rotate ninety degrees and lock into a vertical position. Sadly when we last saw The Justifier, it had been sabotaged on Bora Vio while handing off Omega to Lama Su.
