5 Horror Movies To Watch If You Loved ‘The Quarry’
The Quarry is the newest horror game from Supermassive Games, the studio known for the highly popular Until Dawn. The game allows players to play as multiple different protagonists as they attempt to navigate the horrors that lie within the woods around Hackett’s Quarry. There are countless endings to the game since it is based on players’ choices, and there is also the option for players to watch a movie version of the game as opposed to actually playing through it. The cast features David Arquette, Justice Smith, and Brenda Song among others, and has plenty of jump scares cleverly hidden throughout.
The game is loved by fans and critics alike with it taking TikTok by storm last year when it was first released. Since it is clear that fans can’t get enough, let’s take a look at five horror movies you should check out if you just can’t get enough of The Quarry (now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC).

5. Scream
This is the odd movie on the list since it doesn’t have to do with supernatural enemies, crazy families, or a summer camp. The reason I put this movie on the list is because of David Arquette. He is one of the most interesting characters in the video game and one of the people that fans can’t seem to stop talking about. In the Scream films, Arquette plays a central character that has been a fan-favorite since the first film was released in 1996. If you loved his character, Chris Hackett, then I highly recommend you at least check out the first Scream film.
Scream is available to watch on Paramount+.
4. Friday The 13th
This ultimate camp slasher film made the sub-genre what it is today. Not only does it feature one of the biggest reveals in cinematic history, but it also fits perfectly with the overall vibe of the game. The camp is a character within the film similar to how the woods is a character within the game.
Friday the 13th is available to watch on Paramount+.
3. An American Werewolf In London
One of the best things about The Quarry is the revelation that SPOILER ALERT the creature stalking the woods is in fact a werewolf. Werewolves have been immensely popular for decades, but it feels like they have fallen off our radar in recent years. If you loved this revelation as much as I did then you definitely need to check out one of the most well-known werewolf films in cinematic history. The film also features the most recognizable human-to-werewolf transformation ever!
An American Werewolf in London is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video.
2. The Evil Dead
This is one of the most recognizable campy horror films in history. You will quickly recognize many of the kills and settings from the game as the creators pulled a lot of inspiration from this film. Even the scares are similar. Director Sam Raimi’s brother, Ted, also plays one of the central characters in the game, Travis Hackett.
The Evil Dead is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video.
1. Fear Street Part Two: 1978
In my opinion, the entire trilogy gives off the vibe of the game with its cast of protagonists up against an unknown supernatural enemy. However, part two of the trilogy is the best fit for The Quarry. The spooky camp vibe is a well-known setting and trope within the horror genre, but like the game, this film utilizes the surrounding woods for much of the action rather than focusing solely on the camp. Like the game, the protagonists have no idea what they are up against, and when the revelation comes, it is jaw-dropping and incredibly bloody.
The Fear Street Trilogy is available to watch on Netflix.
