A Guide To The 'Star Wars' Cantinas
Cantinas are an important part of the Star Wars universe. It’s where we see Luke and Obi-Wan recruit Han Solo to help them on their journey and where Obi-Wan and Anakin go to find out more about the assassin going after Padme. They have always played an important role, so let's take a look at some of the cantinas within the universe.
5. Mos Eisley Cantina
“You’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy” is probably the best way to summarize the most recognizable cantina in Star Wars. It’s located in the Mos Eisley spaceport on Tatooine. It was a popular place for pilots, smugglers, bounty hunters, alien misfits, and renegades. Even though fans tend to call it the Mos Eisley Cantina, its real name is Chalmun’s Spaceport Cantina, and it was built as a fortress to defend against raids from Tusken Raiders. The cantina has a bar area that holds a maximum occupancy of 102 patrons. There are seats at the bar, but also at various tables and booths around the establishment. There were 12 drinks available on tap, with the most popular being blue milk, Tatooine Sunset, Jawa Juice, Yatooni Boska, Tatooni Junko, and Hutt’s Delight. There was also a secret drink menu that patrons could order from. One notable patron of the establishment was Figrin D’an, the kloo player and leader of the Modal Nodes.

4. Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina is found near Smuggler’s Alley on Merchant Row in Black Spire Outpost, on the Outer Rim planet of Batuu. This cantina is a bit more special, as fans can take a trip to it in both Disneyworld and Disneyland. It was owned by a Blutopian bartender named Oga Garra, and pilot droid RX-24, now known as R-3X, who works as a DJ at the cantina. Even though there is a droid detector, droids were allowed on the premises, unlike Mos Eisley Cantina. It was known for serving pilots, bounty hunters, smugglers, locals, and galactic travelers. The place was used to conduct illegal business, meet a friend, confront an enemy, or just unwind after a long day. It eventually gained a reputation for being a place to avoid authorities. First Order stormtroopers occasionally popped in for a visit.
3. Pyloon’s Saloon
Pyloon’s was owned and operated by none other than Greez Dritus and was named after his great-grandmother, Pyloon. It was situated at the mouth of Foothill Falls in Rambler’s Reach Outpost on Koboh. The layout is different from the other bars we’ve seen in this list. It has multiple stories and acts as a safe house for Cal Kestis during the events of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
2. Garsa Fwip’s Sanctuary
This establishment was also known simply as The Sanctuary. It was a cantina, upscale club, and casino. The Sanctuary was located in Mos Espa, Tatooine, during the New Republic Era. It was owned by Twi’lek Madam Garsa Fwip. The place had a bar, gambling tables, live music, and even helmet cleaning. It also featured the return of Max Rebo, who formerly performed for Jabba the Hutt. It was eventually blown up by two members of the Pyke Syndicate.
1. 79’s
This establishment, located in the galactic capital of Coruscant, catered to the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic. During the Clone Wars, troopers frequented the establishment, and they continued to do so even after the fall of the Republic. It was known as a clone bar, but non-clones also frequented it.
There are a lot of important moments that have happened in Star Wars that have taken place in cantinas. They have always been important to the plot and have shown up in pretty much every Star Wars story we’ve seen. If you want to experience what it may be like to be in one, then your best bet is taking a trip to Oga’s Cantina at Disneyworld and Disneyland. It’s definitely a must-do for any Star Wars fan!
