Who Was Quinlan Vos’ Master?

Fans of the wider Star Wars fandom, particularly the material under the Legends side of the fandom, will be familiar with most Jedi who exist in storylines outside the main narrative. As people explore the broader narrative, they want to know more about the characters- and the influencing characters that came before them.
For example, we know quite a bit about Jedi Master Quinlan Vos; he plays a large part in both the canon and Legends storylines, and his presence fills up a good chunk of the time between the events of the Prequel and Original trilogies. As we learn more about Vos, we also learn about his Jedi Master, Tholme, and the role he played in Vos’s life and galactic events.

Prior to becoming Vos’s master, Tholme was the Jedi watchman of the Kiffu sector, overseeing the people and keeping an eye out for potential Jedi. It was in this capacity that he met the young Quinlan Vos. (Legends Universe)
Vos Was Different From The Norm

Quinlan Vos was not a typical Jedi candidate; by the time Tholme became aware of Vos’s suitability as a Jedi candidate, he was already past the average age. In addition, other important figures wanted Vos to stay on Kiffu and be trained as one of their Guardians. Tholme compromised and remained of Kiffu to train Vos; eventually- and after significant trauma- Tholme was able to take Quinlan to Coruscant for proper Jedi training. (Legends Universe)
Tholme Stayed Connected To Vos
Tholme helped Vos beyond his training; after a mishap that resulted in Vos losing his memory, Tholme helped him recover and took on Vos’s padawan as his own. (Legends Universe)
Tholme Took An Active Part In Conflicts

Tholme and Vos set up a spy network during the Separatist Crisis and the Clone Wars. In addition, he masterminded a plan to infiltrate the inner circle of Count Dooku; this eventually backfired, however, when his former padawan turned to the dark side. (Legends Universe)
Tholme Survived
Tholme survived Order 66 and the Great Jedi purge, hiding out on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. When he died, he was given a funeral pyre on the planet Anzat. (Legends Universe)
Tholme Had Been A Jedi For A While Before He Met Vos
Tholme became a Jedi Master sometime before the First Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY, at some point taking on Quinlan Vos as his Padawan learner. (Canon Universe)
Tholme’s Death

At some point in the war, Tholme was separated from his padawan when the two were sent on different missions. During his mission, Tholme dueled with the Sith apprentice and Dooku’s agent Asajj Ventress; Ventress eventually prevailed, and Tholme was killed. (Canon Universe)
