Who Is Ema Horvath’s Eärien In 'The Rings of Power'?
Amazon has had to take some creative liberties regarding The Rings of Power. They have to work with notes that were left by Tolkien. Making a show just from the notes would be difficult, so Amazon had to create some new characters. One of these characters is Eärien.
Eärien does not exist in Tolkien canon. This means she does not exist in any of his written works and is a new character created for the show. She is the daughter of Elendil and the sister of Isildur. Her name means "daughter of the sea," which makes sense as she is a woman of Númenor. In episode 3, we find out she was accepted to the Builder's Guild after applying twice. Little is known about this new character, and her story may not have a more significant part until later seasons.

Spoilers for the Númenor plotline ahead.
Some think she is going to contribute to the fall of Númenor. Since she is in the Builder's Guild, she may end up helping build the temple to Morgoth, leading to Númenor's fall. If true, this could go a few different ways. She could regret her role in the temple's construction, leading to a redemption arc. Or the show will have her accept the consequences of her actions. With her being a new character, her fate is unknown.
Eärien helps tell the story of Númenor. She takes a lot of responsibility for herself and has a close relationship with her brother, Isildur. Númenor is going through many changes in the Second Age, and Eärien brings a new perspective to these changes. Her story may not play out until later seasons, but that doesn't mean she couldn't be killed. Since her fate is unknown, we don't know what happens to this character. If she is killed early on, it will provide emotional depth to Elendil and Isildur in their fight against Sauron. On the other hand, she could also go on to live a happy life somewhere and not contribute to the fall of Númenor. We won't get to know more about this character for a while.
Eärien is a new and mysterious character in The Rings of Power. Since we haven't seen much of her, little is known about her character and motives. She has been accepted to the Builders Guild, which could impact Númenor later. I doubt we'll see much of her, with two episodes left until the following season. She is an intriguing character, and I am excited to see how her story will play out.
