Who Is Cassian Andor?

For some people, he was a ghost. For the simple spectators, he was a rebel. For those who pay closer attention, Cassian Jeron Andor was a hero, and maybe one of the key elements needed for the defeat of the Galactic Empire. Born on planet Fest, Andor was an experienced soldier, pilot, assassin, and spy who worked for the Alliance to Restore the Republic for most of his life.
He joined the Rebellion from a very young age after years as an insurrectionist who fought against the Galactic Republic. Andor served the Rebellion as a captain in the intelligence branch where he took on several missions, some of which were morally questionable. He ensured that the Rebellion had the most critical and updated information. He always did what he believed was best for the interest of the Rebel Alliance for he was a committed soldier who believed firmly in the Rebel cause.

Cassian Andor was known for being a very reserved person willing to do anything for a cause he believed in. He even killed one of his informants/friends named Tivik to prevent the Empire from capturing him.
One of his most recognizable missions was his very last one. The Rogue One mission was initially canceled due to the high risk it presented to the Rebel Alliance. However, Cassian Andor, alongside Jyn Erso and a crew of Rebels decided to take on the mission. Because of their efforts, the Rebel Alliance was able to get their hands on the Death Star’s plans, which led to the battle station’s destruction at the Battle of Yavin.
Unfortunately, Andor and his crew perished on the Scarif after the Death Star’s superlaser destroyed the Citadel tower they were in. In his final moments, Andor proved he was not just a selfish soldier. He paid the ultimate price to ensure his allies had an advantage that could help them take down the Empire.

With the new Disney+ Series Andor we will have the chance to learn more about Cassian and his life. Being such an astounding and morally complex character, he offers a new perspective of what a hero could be. In the Star Wars universe, heroes can be found around every corner, we just need to pay close attention and learn that everything is much more complex than light and dark, black and white.
