Ahh, yes Snoke theories. One of the things Star Wars fans talked most about after The Force Awakens. Fans debated over who he was, with popular theories including Darth Plagueis, the master of Palpatine mentioned in Revenge of The Sith. It should have come as no surprise to anyone that when Snoke’s actor, Andy Serkis, was cast to play a role in Andor, the theories once again picked up. Serkis, who is playing Kino Loy. Loy is a prisoner who is serving his sentence under the Empire in a manager-type position where he oversees the titular character for 12-hour long shifts on unit Five-Two-D. Fans went crazy with numerous theories over Loy and Snoke being the same character. Although some of these theories were clearly jokes, the imagination of the fans was captured. Although Andor has been mostly self-contained, many eagle-eyed fans have noted possible easter eggs.

In a recent interview with Jake Hamilton, Serkis stated that he was hesitant to take the role, knowing that said theories would spread throughout the fan base extremely quickly. What got him to take the role however was his love for Rogue One, and trust in Tony Gilroy. He also was of the mind that despite the fan theories, the majority of fans would see the large differences between his two characters and come to the conclusion that they’re different characters. However, when asked what Star Wars work he was most proud of, he said would love to have more screen time as Snoke, and stated that he hopes to return as the character in the future to flesh out his backstory. Similarly, he has also fleshed out a backstory for the character, of Kino, which includes a position as a foreman who cared about workers’ rights. This backstory showed no implication of dark side training or force usage, further separating the two characters.
