From 'Barbie' To 'Star Wars', Who Is Ariana Greenblatt?
After Anakin Skywalker sliced the walkway in the World Between Worlds in Ahsoka's fifth episode, "Shadow Warrior," his former Padawan relived two of her battles from the Clone Wars: First, the Battle of Ryloth (from the series' first season), as a 14-year-old and then, as a 17-year-old, the Siege of Mandalore (from season 7).
It would have been fitting for Ashley Eckstein to portray these younger versions of Ahsoka, as the actress has voiced the "snippy" Togruta both in The Clone Wars theatrical release and in all seven seasons of the series, as well as later in Star Wars: Rebels. But when the decision was made to bring the animated character to live-action, first in The Mandalorian and then in The Book of Boba Fett, and now in her own series, Dave Filoni and his partner-in-crime, Jon Favreau, cast Rosario Dawson as both the physical appearance and the voice of the grown-up Ahsoka.

Filoni also chose to rely on another actress when it came to portraying and voicing the younger "Eckstein version" of Ahsoka for "Shadow Warrior". This actress is Ariana Greenblatt, who managed to capture the essence of the animated Ahsoka very well and got a lot of praise for her performance from the Star Wars fandom. Some fans even hope for a live-action version of The Clone Wars with Greenblatt, Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor, and Temuera Morrison.
Greenblatt, who turned 16 on August 27, started her acting career in 2015 in an episode of Liv and Maddie, followed by the Disney series Stuck in the Middle (2016-2018), where she acted alongside Jenna Ortega (Wednesday).
Her first feature film role was in A Bad Moms Christmas (2017), but she is probably best known for playing Sasha, the owner of the doll, whose alter-ego is Margott Robbie's Barbie in this summer's big smash hit.
But even before that, Greenblatt has been part of the cast of a big blockbuster production: back in 2018, she starred as a young Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War, where Thanos chose her as his daughter after his henchmen had killed her mother.
Next summer, Greenblatt will appear in the feature adaptation of the popular video game Borderlands alongside Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
But aside from Ahsoka, Greenblatt has another tie to the galaxy far, far away: this spring, she played the alien girl Koa alongside Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) in the sci-fi movie 65, where both had to fight dinosaurs after Driver's spaceship crashed on earth 65 million years before our time.
It is not likely that the young version of Ahsoka will return in the remaining episodes, as the World Between Worlds has served its purpose and the focus of the show will undoubtedly shift to the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, but the positive reaction towards Greenblatt's performance could lead to Lucasfilm considering a live-action version of Tales of The Jedi.
