Planets are located in various sections of the vast galaxy. The known space of the galaxy far, far away is further divided into the Outer Rim, Mid Rim, Inner Rim, and Core Worlds. In the past, we have touched on the many planets within the Outer Rim. We are familiar with many of these planets, as many stories took place there. Now it is time to look at the Mid Rim. The Hutts were in control of much of the region alongside the Galactic Empire.

Here are some of the more popular planets within the Mid Rim Territories.

Kashyyyk

The temperate jungle planet that orbited around a single star in the Mytaranor Sector was the homeworld of the Wookiee species. The planet had no axial tilt, and had a perfectly circular orbit, resulting in a lack of seasons. The planet was home to wroshyr trees, into which the Wookiees would build their cities. The wilds of the planet contained dangerous fauna such as terentateks and wyyschokk spiders. Add on the carnivorous plants such as the jaw plant and saava, and you’re in for a bad time. Because of this, the Wookiees mostly stayed in the treetops and avoided going down to the forest floor.

A bountiful planet in the Chommell sector, Naboo was located close to the border of the Outer Rim territories. It was home to the indigenous population known as Gungans, as well as a population of humans. It had no molten core. Instead, the core consisted of a network of rocky tunnels and flooded caves. The planet was also rich in plasma, an important source of energy for much of the galaxy. Disputes over this natural resource would lead to the Trade Federation’s invasion of the planet.

Naboo’s landscape consisted of rolling plains, grassy hills, and swampy lakes. It was considered a world of classical beauty.

It served as the birthplace of Sheev Palpatine, and Padme Amidala

Takodana

A remote, neutral planet located in the Mid Rim but also fell into the Western Reaches, Takodadna was covered in an abundance of lush forests, and small lakes. It was a popular departure point as it offered easy access to trade routes that connected the Inner and Outer Rim. With its neutral stance, it became a haven for fugitives, smugglers, and explorers.

It was home to Maz Kanata and her castle.

Trandosha

Sometimes known as “Dosh,” Trandosha was an arboreal planet in the Kashyyyk system within the Mytaranor Sector of the Mid Rim. It was home to the Trandoshan species. Even though both Kashyyyk and Trandosha were in the same star system, the Wookiees and Trandoshans were bitter rivals

The planet contained thick jungles, forests, and plains, and had a temperate climate. A greenish hue and large white clouds loomed over the planet's surface.

It was the homeworld of bounty hunter Bossk

Bothawui

An asteroid field-ringed gas giant located within the Bothan Space region of the Mid Rim, Bothawui planet was considered “strategically important” in the Clone Wars. This was where Anakin Skywalker successfully stopped General Grievous’ Separatist forces from advancing.

While the Mid Rim has many planets, we have only seen a few in Star Wars canon. The planets we have seen, however, have been important in various Star Wars stories and events. Hopefully, we will get to see more of these planets in future content, whether on screen or in print.
