Theories On What Comes Next After The 'Ahsoka' Finale

Ahsoka is the most recent show within the Mandoverse. The show was incredible and was essentially Star Wars Rebels season 5. We also got to see the return of Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Thrawn being the next big threat within the Mandoverse. After the finale, there is no official word of what is next for these characters. There are a few theories, however, so let’s take a look at some of the most popular theories of what comes next for Ahsoka and the crew.
The most obvious ‘what comes next’ would be Dave Filonis's Star Wars movie. Since it's still a few years out, not much is known about what his movie could be about, however, fans are speculating that it would continue the story of Ahsoka and Thrawn. Filoni’s movie will most likely be a culmination of all the shows within the Mandoverse. This could feature a team of Din Djarin, Ahsoka Tano, Bo-Katan, and the Mandalorians, facing off against Grand Admiral Thrawn. Filoni has talked about the importance of having a scene in a movie that could “define an era”, and this could be his moment to have that. Another speculation would be a loose adaptation of the Legends novel, Heir To The Empire. This is much less likely, but we could see elements from the book within the movie, especially after Thrawn’s return.

The next option would be a second season of Ahsoka. This is personally my favorite option, as I would love to see her story continue. It could tell a more fleshed-out story than a movie could. There are rumors that season 2 is currently being discussed within Disney, but realistically we wouldn’t see anything until after season 4 of The Mandalorian. The finale left us with many loose ends. Ahsoka and Sabine are trapped on the remote planet of Peridia, while Ezra can return home. Fans would love to see what happens to Sabine and Ahsoka, and how they will get off the planet. It also left the stories of Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati unfinished. With Baylan, the Mortis gods have been introduced into live-action and could play a part in future Star Wars content. Shin’s story was just getting started, and it would be great to see what happens to her. We also didn’t get to see what happens when Thrawn returns, so another season would do a great job of tying up all of these loose ends.
Since Filoni’s movie and a possible season 2 are far away, the next place we could see these characters would be in The Mandalorian season 4. I wouldn’t be a fan of taking away the show from Din and Grogu, but it would make the most sense for them to appear in the new season. Ahsoka and Sabine would need to figure out a way to get off of Peridia, and Din Djarin could be the one to help them out. We also got a Thrawn mention in season 3, so he could very well be a threat in the next season, and we know that Din and the other Mandalorians will need all the help they can get against Thrawn. The fight against Thrawn probably wouldn’t happen until the movie, but season 4 would be a great place for there to be a reunion before the events of the movie.

It is unknown what the next story of Ahsoka’s journey is, but hopefully, we get to find out sooner than later. Thrawn would obviously play a part, as he’s been introduced into live-action, and it would be a waste not to use him as a villain. There are a few options as to where Ahsoka’s story could continue, so let’s hope we get to see her, and even Thrawn, sooner than later.
