The series premiere of the new Disney+ show Andor was pushed back. However, the show will have a three-episode premiere on September 21st. While waiting for the show, the show's predecessor Rogue One was re-released in IMAX theaters with a special look at Andor ahead of its release. I was recently able to snag tickets and saw Rogue One again in theaters.

Rogue One is the story of Jyn Erso, the daughter of Death Star scientist, Galen Erso. She is rescued from a prison transport and finds herself in the presence of the Rebel Alliance. They have received a transmission from a pilot under Galen Erso. She teams up with Captain Cassian Andor as they go to find this pilot, who is under the care of Saw Gerrera. They rescue the pilot and a few others and eventually form a team, where they go after the Death Star plans. These are the same plans that Luke would use to destroy the Death Star in A New Hope. The team is ultimately successful at transmitting the Death Star plans to the Rebels. Jyn is a reluctant hero at first and doesn't even want to help the Rebels. Her only goal is to find her father. Cassian, however, points out how he never had the luxury to choose, and he's been in the fight since he was six years old.

Andor will tell the story of the Rebel Cassian Andor before the events of Rogue One. The show will have two seasons. The special footage that was seen during the Rogue One re-release was an extended clip of one already released. It showed Cassian talking to Stellan Skarsgard's character about a box he had. As they were discussing a price, Stellan's character wanted Cassian to join the Rebels. However, they were interrupted by the Empire and had a bit of a firefight. Cassian went back for the box and almost lost his life doing it. Then, the footage moved to the trailer for Andor. Seeing this made me want more of the show immediately.

Being able to see Rogue One in IMAX before the premiere of Andor, was a great way to get excited about the series. It was a few years since I have seen Rogue One, so seeing it again was a great experience. There were many moments that I did not remember, but the ones I did were still as cool as the first time I saw them. The team dubbed “Rogue One” gave their lives so the Rebels could have an advantage against the Empire. The Death Star plans were their first ray of "hope," and the events that happened in the movie made that possible.

Andor will be exploring the life of the titular character before he became the beloved Captain Cassian Andor in Rogue One. In Rogue One, he is extremely cynical and does whatever his commanders tell him to do. While Cassian is a character who had a big part in the movie, we do not know much about him and his past. I am excited that this series will dive more into this mysterious character and how he became who he was. Mon Mothma, who appeared in Rogue One as well, will also be in Andor. Hopefully, she will be one of the people to convince Cassian to join the Rebel Alliance. Saw Gerrera will also make an appearance in the show. It will be interesting to see what part he plays, and see more of his story in live-action.

Getting to revisit Rogue One again before the release of Andor on Disney+ was a great way to get hyped for the show. The extended clip they showed gave us more insight into the series and made me thirst for more. I recommend rewatching Rogue One. It will remind us who Cassian Andor is and that we finally get to find out more about this mysterious Star Wars character, and how he became Captain of one of the most important missions in Star Wars history.

Andor premieres on September 21st on Disney+.
