A Star Wars story. A story of old space wizards, a guild of bounty hunters, and a political force darkened with a 1000-year revenge goal in the making. The Republic started to crumble thanks to the decisions and actions of a few men. Feelings of anger and pride at an older and darker time led those men down a path that would give them absolute power. An already deviant Republic did not have a chance. It was a fate they would tragically share with the keepers of the peace. The people in the galaxy were never the main concern. A lot of planets were living in misery for quite some time. Criminal syndicates had control of entire systems. Slaves were the main productive work labor. Millions of lives were at the mercy in this galactic game of good vs evil. The common man knew that it did not matter. They would continue to live in poverty and a life of servitude.

A man was just in the middle of all that.

“Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon,” he introduces himself to us in A New Hope. Without knowing he will be part of something bigger, he takes this old man and a whiny teenager to a peaceful planet to rescue a princess. Little does he know at this point that the old man was the one responsible for the subsequent rise of the Empire’s most deadly weapon, Darth Vader. He did not know the princess and the whiny kid were also Darth Vader’s daughter and son. An adventure for the ages was beginning.

Nothing To Lose

The conflict between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance was cooking. The life of Han in his early days was not going to change depending on its outcome. A skilled pilot and a man who listens to his inner voice to go against anyone who orders him will naturally make him a target to authority figures. Han would never look down, he might well just stare right into your eyes, and make you realize that your sense of power is nothing but a false sensation. The power you think you have, just like Han, came from nothing. Han would always win because his nothingness only makes room for a lot of space to improvise a good win. He would stare at the crime boss Lady Proxima and make a “click” sound against a courtroom full of armed men to get the upper hand. He knew Dryden Vos would underestimate him. Vos’s mistake caused one of the most powerful crime syndicates in the galaxy to lose against this man thirsty for success and recognition. Han was a faithful man to himself, never looking down. If he had thought so lowly of himself, he might as well return to live in the sewers. The galaxy was a gigantic sewer by that time, and everybody needs to rise above their situation just like Han.

Fearless Against The Rising Empire

Fear and despair would darken the face of everybody in the galaxy. The foundations of the Empire crushed the hopes of the people. Monstrous shadows in the shape of Imperial Star Destroyers loomed over thousands of planets. Nobody but they could travel through space with such liberty. Well, with one exception. Another ship was sailing the space. The Millennium Falcon, Han Solo’s ship. The ship that did the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. This got the attention of the other ships in space. He would steal from the empire, destroy a few TIE fighters, and escape the Star Destroyers more than one time. With a few indirect actions, he would show the people of the galaxy to look up, and see how the Empire could be defeated. He never intended his actions to be a beacon of hope. He just wanted everybody to see him winning in a cool way. He was, after all, the best pilot in the galaxy. A smug smuggler.

A Fist Against The Criminal Underworld

The galaxy was an awful place to live in during the time between the fall of the Republic, and the rise of the Empire, allowing the criminal underworld to rise in power. The name Plagueis was commonly heard between the criminal bosses, and lots of worlds already living in misery and affliction were the perfect start to an evil ruling the galaxy. The big mob bosses did their move and took control of everything they believed belonged to them, including the people. In a place where the law was evil, and the powers were corrupted, an outlaw would, by definition, do the right thing. Han Solo was the target of a lot of crime syndicates. He did not deliver on more than one occasion. He saw stealing from the Empire as giving them what they deserved. Doing bad to evil people, had to be some kind of good, right? His actions were never with the greater good in mind, but the greater good sometimes benefited from his doings. The whole galactic underworld wanted his head, but they knew that they might need somebody like Han Solo in their numbers, somebody who faced the empire, without much thought. The criminal world always kept Han Solo on a leash. They had bounty hunters on standby, waiting for just the right signal to go after Han Solo’s head. After all, maybe someday Han Solo’s actions could start affecting their way of living.

A Means To The Force’s End

Luke, Leia, and Han

“…it surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”

Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker was a central part of the Clone Wars, as he tried to save the Republic from falling. He loved Padme Amidala,  who also loved him back. While Anakin fell to the dark side and became Darth Vader, Padme was giving birth to the saviors of the galaxy.

Their son, Luke Skywalker, would grow up to become a Jedi Knight and a receptacle of thousands of years of knowledge of the Jedi about the force. He would also become Han Solo’s best friend. The last Jedi and the smuggler destroyed the lethal Death Star and became the symbols of the Rebellion. After seeing the remains of Alderaan, the man who spent his entire life being a rebel would do what was right for all the people this time. Through Luke’s journey, Han would come to see how the Empire’s darkness threatened the galaxy.

Anakin and Padme’s daughter, Leia Organa, saw her planet reduced to nothing and millions of futures lost. Always against the fiery fist of the empire, this tragedy only renewed her fighting spirit in the Rebellion. Han had lived the word rebellion. Finally, it was time for his fight to begin.

For the first time in his life, Han met people like Luke, who came from nothing but went on to achieve a greater destiny. He encountered people like Leia, who had passionately stood up against the oppressors. No more unfair rules, and precarious treatment to those who were already struggling to survive. He would pilot the Millennium Falcon across the stars and be a symbol of the Rebellion, and a better tomorrow to come.'
