Forget Halloween Monsters, The Return Of Bor Gullet In 'Andor' Terrifies Us More
Bor Gullet is a Mairan, a species with the ability to absorb thoughts. That’s not their only ability though, they can also alter and erase the memories of their victims. Their abilities aren’t inherently negative; they respond to the full range of emotions. Being only semi-sentient, though, it’s easier to direct them toward negative emotions than letting themselves lean into the positive. When getting into a person’s mind, Bor Gullet and other Mairans practically turn them into scrambled eggs, and the control over their mind slips.

The moment Bor Gullet got in Rogue One was more than enough to make anyone uneasy. It had a shape reminiscent of a Hutt and an Ithorian combined and was ever so slimy. When the tentacles enveloped Bodhi Rook to get into his mind, the level of invasiveness and visual discomfort increased exponentially. Rook was lucky enough to recover himself just enough to get away, but that is not always the case; it was by happenstance.
Gerrera, the leader of the Partisans, is often regarded as an extremist since he generally isn’t afraid to go the extra mile to get a mission done. The keeping and usage of Bor Gullet is a definite nod in that direction, and the man doesn’t seem like the type to use a tool only once. In a series where the horrors of politics are highlighted and information is invaluable, Bor Gullet’s abilities would be more than useful.
Seeing where Andor could take this moderately horrifying potential will be interesting. This is the opportunity of a lifetime to point out hypocrisy if the aftermath of using Bor Gullet is vilified by the Empire. Saw Gerrera isn’t done in the show so neither is Bor Gullet’s potential.
