Could Crosshair Become The First Death Trooper During ‘The Bad Batch’?

Crosshair and a Deathtrooper

Of all the members of The Bad Batch, Crosshair has been the one that has stood out from the rest. From his first appearance in The Bad Batch arc of Season 7 of The Clone Wars. He was always a loner, only sometimes fitting in with his fellow batch members. His contempt for the “regs” or what the batch calls regular clones seemed to have a menacing, almost disturbing quality to it. So when Order 66 came, and the inhibitor chips were activated, he quickly began to head down the route of being an Imperial soldier. The twist comes near the end of Season 1 of The Batch Batch, where we find out that he did remove his chip long ago, and everything he’s done has been of his free will for a long time.

While still early in Season 2, Crosshair still remains with the Empire, unable to shake off his ability to want purpose in something. With the Empire, he thinks he can still find something to be, a purpose in a galaxy that has changed significantly. He may be heading down the path of redemption, but perhaps there is a darker twist to the clones. Maybe he won’t become just another Stormtrooper, but the worst of the worst, a Deathtrooper.

Evolution Of Evil

The Empire has always been about finding the perfect soldier, a loyal, obedient servant who will carry out the will of Palpatine with peak efficiency. Over the years, they have come up with several Stormtrooper variants, but none are as deadly or vicious as the Deathtrooper.

The Deathtrooper was a name the Emperor gave as part of the many scientific experiments during his reign. While many don’t know where the Deathtrooper comes from, many suspect they are modified soldiers. Some would say that they aren’t alive but resurrected corpses in armor. A horrifying thought if true, but what does this have to with Crosshair?

The Undead Clone

Crosshair’s journey is still a blank slate, and we don’t know where he will go in The Bad Batch Season 2. However, if redemption is no longer on the table with him, what could be the fate of this clone? Crosshair is someone who sees himself as superior to his fellow soldier and even his fellow clones. Perhaps he will go as far as to become somewhat immortal to go to the darkest of experiments within the Empire. To get an upgrade and become the most superior type of soldier, a Deathtrooper.

We know something is happening at Mt.Tantiss involving the cloners on Kamino. Though it’s hard to say, this may be part of the Deathtrooper program, and Crosshair may be the first to volunteer with the experiment.
