Captain Marvel and the X-Men are joining forces to fight the Brood, an ancient race of insectoid beings, and stop their plan to infect the cosmos. The story will unfold through a two-part arc in a crossover between Kelly Thompson’s Captain Marvel and Gerry Duggan’s X-Men comics.

Titled “Revenge of the Brood” and “Lord of the Brood,” these two arcs will be a continuation of Thompson’s already famous run of Captain Marvel, in which Carol Danvers ventured into space and encountered the Brood. It will continue in a crossover between Captain Marvel and the X-Men which will run on Captain Marvel #46-48 and X-Men #19-21, to finally end on an epic finale in Captain Marvel #49.

To solve the Brood problem in outer space, Captain Marvel will be joined by Rogue, Gambit, and Polaris, and together they will join forces to defeat the Brood, an old and common enemy they already fought decades ago in Avengers Annual #10. The story will also deal with X-Men’s former mutant Brood student, Broo, who became king of the Brood and will introduce the new Brood Empress and new rogue Brood clans. Finally, the superheroes will have to sacrifice one of their own to save the day. But who will it be?

For this collaboration, Gerry Duggan will handle the X-Men chapters alongside artist Stefano Caselli, while writer Kelly Thompson will collaborate with artist Javier Pina and Sergio Davila on the Captain Marvel chapters. Additionally, artist Juan Frigeri will provide a connecting cover across both Captain Marvel and X-Men chapters.
