As The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power grows its ensemble, it has also found itself changing the face one of its main characters ahead of its second season.

Gabriel Akuwudike (Hanna), Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour (The Witcher), Ben Daniels (The Exorcist TV series, Rogue One), Nicholas Woodeson (Skyfall), Nia Towle (Persuasion) and newcomer Amelia Kenworthy join the cast in roles being kept secret. However, leaving the cast is Joseph Mawle, who played Adar, the Uruk who is the leader of the Orcs. Sam Hazeldine, who has appeared in the film The Last Duel and as Barnaby in two episodes of The Sandman, will be taking over the role in the upcoming season. The circumstances behind the recasting are currently unknown, and a statement from Prime Video pertaining to the recast has not been received.
