Anime And Games Voice Actor Taiki Matsuno Dies Aged 56

Voice actor Taiki Matsuno, known for his various roles in anime and video games, passed away on June 26th from a right cerebral brain hemorrhage at the age of 26. The actor’s death was announced on Thursday, June 27th, by his agency,  Aoni Production.

Taiki Matsuno was born as Tatsuya Masuno in Tokyo, Japan, on October 16, 1967. He made his debut as The Prince in the 1978 anime The Adventures of the Little Prince. From there, Matsuno would work on a variety of anime titles. Some of his most famous roles include Koga in Inuyasha, Hajime Kindachi in Kindachi Case Files, Canpacino. Lafitte, Hildon, and Trebol in One Piece, Jun Manjoume/Chazz Princeton in Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Agumon in Digimon Savers, Pegasus in Sailor Moon Super S, and Kikunojo Oka in the film Sakura Wars: The Movie.

He also lent his voice to several video games such as Mermaid Prism for the PlayStation 2, reprising his role of  Koga in the InuYasha RPG for the PlayStation, Igtenos Mindarde in the PlayStation 2 of Tales of Destiny, and Ling Tong and Liu Shan in the Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi series. The actor also had an extensive career in tokusatsu, mainly working on the Super Sentai series (which became Power Rangers in the United States). Matsuno was also the Japanese voice of SpongeBob in the series of the same name from season four onwards. His family plans to hold a private ceremony.
